Last September, SSI’s college counseling team, Ms. Song and Ms. Remi, hosted a College Admissions Seminar for parents to provide valuable insights into the U.S. university application process. The session offered a clear overview of what students should prepare for each grade level and presented practical strategies through real case studies of successful applicants.
Ms. Song’s presentation focused on the overall admissions process and the essential preparations by grade. She compared the three English test options and provided a comprehensive overview of the SAT and ACT. She also discussed how students can highlight their perseverance, passion, and goal-setting skills through extracurricular activities (ECs). The session concluded with case studies of students admitted to top U.S. universities, illustrating how meaningful ECs can strengthen applications.
Ms. Remi presented “A Guide to the Four-Year Roadmap,” providing lower-grade students with a clear overview of their future academic journey. She outlined key components of college applications, including GPA, test scores, and activities. By sharing college acceptance stories and successful student profiles, she demonstrated how students can strategically plan from grades 9 to 12 to reach their target universities.
This seminar served as a valuable resource for parents, offering a deeper understanding of the college preparation process. It provided practical guidance and insights that will help families support their children’s academic and personal growth.
