Taehyun Kim(11) got the Bronze Award at The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

We are proud to celebrate Taehyun Kim(11), who recently earned the Bronze Award in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognized youth development program, operating in more than 130 countries worldwide. It encourages young people to take initiative in a variety of activity areas, helping them develop their full potential, build essential life skills, and grow through sustained, self-directed challenges.

Taehyun was drawn to the program because it values steady commitment rather than one-time performance. The chance to grow academically, stay active, and take part in an adventurous journey motivated him to join. Knowing it would be a long-term challenge, he approached the program with thoughtful planning and a positive mindset.

Throughout the six-month journey, Taehyun set realistic weekly goals and worked steadily toward them. Balancing schoolwork with other responsibilities—especially during exams and project periods—was not always easy, but he stayed focused and adapted along the way.

One of his biggest takeaways was learning how important discipline and consistency are in achieving real progress. He also discovered the value of planning ahead and following through, even when unexpected challenges came up.

He used a planner app that helped him organize tasks and manage his time, along with patience—especially during the adventure project, where teamwork and endurance mattered most.

When he heard the results, Taehyun felt proud of himself for completing six months of consistent effort and successfully finishing the journey. Encouraged by this experience, he is already looking forward to aiming for the Silver Award next.

Taehyun Kim’s achievement is a great example of how small, steady efforts can lead to meaningful growth. We look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next!
