From May 5 to May 16, 2025, the College Board transitioned 28 AP subjects to digital or hybrid formats.
These exams are now administered through the Bluebook™ digital testing application, the same platform already used for the digital SAT. Traditional paper-based exams have been discontinued for these 28 subjects, while a limited number of courses will continue in a hybrid model (digital + paper).
Advantages of the Digital Transition
- Efficient Input & Editing: Students can type and revise answers more quickly and effectively in a digital environment.
- Expanded Practice Opportunities: Bluebook preview tests and AP Classroom resources allow students to practice in conditions similar to the actual exam.
- Alignment with Digital Learning: Many students are already accustomed to digital tools, making the transition natural and seamless.
- Enhanced Security: Risks of paper exam theft or leakage are eliminated, greatly strengthening test security.
- Simplified Administration: Paper preparation tasks (bubble sheets, printing, etc.) are removed, streamlining exam operations.
