On April 17, SSI Sports Day was held at Daechi Reservoir Park.
This year’s Sports Day was more than just an event. It was a student-driven celebration shaped by the ideas, energy, and enthusiasm of the students themselves. From the earliest planning stages, students played an active role by suggesting games and sharing feedback, helping create a program filled with activities they were genuinely excited to join.
The day began with all students gathering at the venue, where the opening warm-up game, Find a Friend, quickly set a lively and welcoming tone. In this activity, one team member drew a slip of paper and had to find a teammate who matched the description. The game encouraged students to connect with one another while naturally building teamwork, and the excitement in the air made for a strong start to the day.
During the morning session, students rotated through eight mini-game stations, including ring toss, jump rope, limbo, tail tag, blind tag, character quiz, chicken fight, and thigh wrestling. Students were free to move between stations and choose the activities they wanted to try. For each game they completed, they earned tickets that could later be used in the raffle. Because many of the stations were based on student suggestions, each one was filled with energy, laughter, and enthusiastic participation.
After lunch, the program shifted to larger team competitions, including tug-of-war, soccer, queen dodgeball, and capture the flag. These events called for teamwork, communication, and strategy. Queen dodgeball kept students fully engaged as teams worked together to protect their queen, while capturing the flag challenged them to think quickly and work strategically under time pressure. Throughout the afternoon, students showed strong sportsmanship, encouraged one another, and demonstrated what it means to work together toward a shared goal.
The day ended with an exciting raffle. Students used the tickets they had earned during the morning, along with tickets purchased in advance, to enter drawings for prizes of their choice. Popular items such as a Bluetooth speaker, tumblers, and gift cards were awarded to lucky winners. Team rankings were also recognized at the end of the event, with the first-place team receiving 30 Scholar Dollars, followed by 20, 15, and 10 for the second-, third-, and fourth-place teams. In this way, every team was able to finish the day with a sense of achievement.
Most of all, Sports Day stood out for the joy and positive energy that filled every part of the event. Students fully immersed themselves in the activities, shared memorable moments with friends, and helped create an atmosphere of excitement and community. We look forward to creating more student-centered events in the future.
