The SSI Curling Club proudly brought home the gold medal at the 2026 Seoul Mayor’s Cup Curling Tournament, marking an outstanding achievement for the team. Competing against strong teams such as Newton Academy and SPPS, SSI demonstrated exceptional teamwork, focus, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
One of the most memorable moments of the competition was SSI’s impressive 11–0 victory against SPPS. The match reflected not only the team’s technical growth, but also their ability to stay composed, communicate effectively, and execute their strategy under pressure.
Behind this achievement were months of dedicated preparation. Throughout the season, the players worked hard to strengthen their curling skills while also building trust and chemistry as a team. According to the team captain, one of the greatest motivations for participating in the tournament was the opportunity to lead the team and challenge strong competitors.
Compared to the previous year, the team showed remarkable improvement in communication and teamwork. The captain emphasized that staying calm during difficult moments and encouraging teammates were key factors in the team’s success. Rather than focusing solely on individual performance, the players supported one another and maintained a positive mindset from start to finish.
The tournament also became a meaningful lesson in leadership. Students learned that true leadership is not simply about giving directions, but about building trust, encouraging others, and helping the team stay united toward a shared goal. This spirit of collaboration became one of the SSI Curling Club’s greatest strengths.
When the final results were announced, the victory felt especially meaningful because it represented the hard work, commitment, and resilience the team had shown throughout the season. Celebrating the gold medal together made the achievement even more memorable for the students.
The SSI Curling Club’s success at the Seoul Mayor’s Cup represents more than a tournament win. It reflects the values SSI students continue to develop both inside and outside the classroom: collaboration, perseverance and leadership
