Sangwon Kim(10) Wins Silver at National Youth Robot Sports Competition

We are thrilled to celebrate the achievement of Sangwon Kim(10), one of our talented students, who recently showcased remarkable skill and dedication in a robotics competition. Motivated by a desire to challenge himself, Sangwon joined the competition to explore the limits of his creativity, engineering, and coding abilities while building a LEGO EV3 robot.

In preparation, Sangwon devoted countless hours to designing and testing a line-tracing robot. Each practice session allowed him to fine-tune the sensors, improve the robot’s stability, and research different techniques to optimize performance. The most challenging part was keeping the robot steady during sharp turns, as it would often veer off the track. Through patience, repeated trials, and careful sensor adjustments, he overcame this obstacle and ensured consistent performance.

Participating in the competition taught him valuable lessons about patience and problem-solving. He learned that even when things don’t go as planned initially, small adjustments and persistent effort can lead to big improvements. His “secret weapon” during the competition was remaining calm under pressure. By focusing on solutions rather than mistakes, he helped his robot perform steadily during the actual run.

When the results were announced, Sangwon felt a mix of surprise, excitement, and pride, realizing that all his effort and dedication had truly paid off. This experience not only highlighted his technical skills but also reinforced important life lessons in perseverance, focus, and creative problem-solving.

We are incredibly proud of Sangwon Kim’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing how his passion for engineering and robotics continues to grow.
