We are pleased to share the wonderful news that Hyunseo Yang(8) has received an award at the Busan Pride Citizens’ Literary Contest (Fall Session). The Busan Pride Citizens’ Literary Contest is a creative writing competition designed to foster love for the city of Busan by encouraging participants to express their interest and affection through literary works inspired by Busan’s landmarks and cultural identity.
With the goal of earning another literary award in Korea, Hyunseo challenged himself in this competition as a way to continue growing through literary expression. This strong sense of purpose became a key source of motivation throughout his preparation process.
Hyunseo prepared for the contest at his academy under the guidance of his teacher. His work went through multiple rounds of review and revision, gradually improving in both structure and expression. Through this process, he was able to deepen his understanding of literary composition and refine his writing skills.
One of the most challenging aspects was deciding which expressions and phrases would best convey his ideas and receive strong evaluations. Despite moments of uncertainty, Hyunseo remained committed and completed his poem with determination and care.
On a regular basis, Hyunseo reads at least two books each week and maintains the habit of finishing every piece of writing he begins. This consistent practice of reading and writing has played an important role in strengthening his literary abilities.
When he heard the results, Hyunseo was truly happy. This experience became a meaningful milestone, helping him recognize not only his growth as a writer, but also the importance of perseverance and dedication.
