2025 SSI College Visit – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

On Monday, April 14, Seoul Scholars International welcomed Ms. Delaney Walsh, a representative from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), for an informative presentation about the university’s academic offerings, campus life, and admissions process.

Ms. Walsh began by highlighting UIUC’s strong academic reputation and wide array of majors, noting that students have the flexibility to explore interdisciplinary interests and customize their educational paths. From engineering and business to liberal arts and fine arts, UIUC offers over 150 undergraduate programs designed to prepare students for future success.

She also shared the university’s commitment to experiential learning, pointing out the many opportunities for undergraduate research and internships. Whether working in high-tech labs, collaborating with faculty on groundbreaking projects, or gaining hands-on experience through internships, students are encouraged to take initiative and apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings.

One of the key points Ms. Walsh emphasized was UIUC’s diverse and welcoming campus community. Ranked 6th in the U.S. for international student enrollment, UIUC fosters an inclusive environment where students from all backgrounds can thrive. This global perspective is woven into campus life through cultural events, student organizations, and international support services.

She noted that students who thrive at UIUC tend to be collaborative, curious, and open-minded—qualities that contribute to the university’s vibrant and innovative atmosphere. The presentation concluded with insights into the admissions process, encouraging students to highlight their passions, community involvement, and academic strengths.
