2024 Open Seminar: Focusing on Activities & Competitions
We had our first open seminar of the 2024 Fall semester on September 26, focusing on Activities & Competitions.
The presentation covered key aspects of the college application process, such as application requirements, standardized testing, and the critical role of extracurricular activities (ECs). It provided a clear timeline outlining when students should begin preparing for applications, including standardized tests, extracurriculars, and essays.
We also explored the essential factors that impact college admission decisions, including GPA, course rigor, and the influence of personal essays and recommendation letters.
A major portion of the presentation emphasized how students can leverage their ECs to stand out, with advice on selecting activities and competitions that align with their passions, career goals, and intended college majors.
Overall, the presentation was an invaluable resource for parents, offering insights on how to effectively guide students in balancing academics and extracurriculars to enhance their college applications.
